In conclusion, while positive effects of the British Raj may exist, it is ultimately impossible to conclude that such effects could not have occurred without the oppressive regime. Furthermore, the British Raj has its fair share of ugly human crimes and has in many ways had left the Indian subcontinent debilitated economically, culturally, and through human rights violations. Truly, there is little honest justification for an oppression of a people for almost a century. India is thankfully free today, and its history, while often tragic and difficult to digest, must never be forgotten.
